Price From : 7,050 - 23,700 Baht
If you have the time to spend four days in this beautiful part of Thailand then you will see all the highlights that the north of Thailand has to offer. Temples, hill tribes, Thailand's premier National Park, traditional Thai dancing, and an overnight trip to Chiang Rai are just some of the features in this 4-day 3-night package tour of northern Thailand and Chiang Mai.
TOUR DESCRIPTION
Day 1 - Doi Suthep Temple
Doi Suthep is the most well-known and conspicuous of Chiang Mai's temples, rising 1685 meters above the city. The temple, which is located on a small sub-peak of Doi Pui mountain, offers excellent views over the city and beyond. Even if you aren't a temple aficionado, the vista alone is worth the journey up the mountain. We'll transport you up the twisting road to the temple's base, where you may choose between climbing the temple's 306 steps or using the funicular railway for those who are less firm on their feet. After visiting the temple, we will go to a Hmong hill tribal community. For those who are interested, we can arrange a visit to Phu Ping Palace which is situated between the Hmong village and Doi Suthep. Before transferring you to your hotel we will stop by a real Thai local market (either Warorot or Payom) where you can take in all the sights and sounds that a working local market offers.
Evening
On this first evening, you will be taken to Chiang Mai's Old Cultural Center (or Khum Kantoke) for traditional northern Thai food as well as traditional Thai and hill tribe dance shows.

Day 2 - Doi Inthanon National Park
Doi Inthanon National Park will be visited on the second day of this tour. We will stop at Wat Prathat Sri Chom Tong, an important temple in the area that houses Buddhist relics, before beginning our journey into the park and up to the peak of Doi Inthanon, Thailand's highest mountain, where we will pause at the King and Queen Chedi's to take in the spectacular views of the park that these mountaintop chedis provide. You'll visit two of Inthanon's most stunning cascading waterfalls (Siritharn and Wachiritharn), a Karen hill tribal community, the Royal Project Research Station, and a rejuvenating nurturing walk around the Angkha Nature Trail at an altitude of roughly 2500 meters, where the flora and fauna are unique and the air is pleasantly cool. On the way down the mountain, we'll stop at a small Hmong hill tribe market to see some of the produce grow within the national park's boundaries.

Day 3 Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai
On day 3 We'll pick you up from your Chiang Mai hotel and begin the first day by driving north to Chiang Dao, where we'll stop to explore the Chiang Dao cave system. We'll go on a unique lamp-lit tour of the cave's deep and darkest chambers before proceeding to the multi-tiered Thaton temple, which offers views of the Myanmar jungle as well as the Mae Kok river basin. Before boarding the bus to proceed to Karen Long Neck village, a wonderful buffet lunch will be served on the banks of the Mae Kok River. We'll then continue up into the highlands, stopping first at an Akha village and then to the Chinese settlement at Doi Mae Salong. The air is cool up here and the ideal climate for growing tea which you can see being grown on the surrounding hills. We can then visit the mountain top Wat Santikhiri Temple, which offers spectacular views of Doi Mae Salong and beyond! We will arrive at your Chiang Rai hotel in the evening, and you will have time to freshen up before visiting the Chiang Rai Night Bazaar, which is a great place to go craft shopping as well as have some local Thai food while watching the performances.

Day 4 - Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai
We'll pick you up from your Chiang Rai hotel and take you to the historic Chiang Sean on the Mekong River, where we'll visit Wat Chedi Luang, a remnant temple from the Lanna kingdom that once occupied this region. A short drive up the river will take you to the famous Golden Triangle area, which encompasses the countries of Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand. You will have the option of taking a Mekong riverboat ride to get a closer view of Myanmar and stop on the Laotian island of Don Xao. The next stop is Mae Sai, The Thai/Myanmar border town with a bustling border market. On the return to Chiang Mai, we will of course be stopping by the beautiful Wat Rong Khun, often known as The White Temple because of its dazzling white hue inlaid with mirrored glass. Our final stop of the day will be at Mae Khajan hot springs.
Doi Tung Option - We can visit Mae Fah Luang Gardens at Doi Tung on day 5 if required. However to fit this is our busy schedule for the day we will need to make an early departure and be on the road by 07:30 am!

On this tour we can arrange a short crossing by boat across the Mekong to the small Laos settlement of Don Xao. In Don Xao there is a small tourist market where some Laos souvenirs and goods can be found. From the beginning of 2015 a passport will be required if you want to take the Mekong boat trip to the Laos island of Don Xao (before a passport was not required) Please bring your passport if you want to do this option. Please also note that no exit or entry visas will be stamped in your passport and if you do cross onto the island of Don Xao your Thai visa will be unaffected. A small landing fee of 20 baht is usually collected by Laos authorities.
The road to this temple is extremely steep in places, so with regards to safety we now implement the following procedures when visiting this temple. if you are being transported by car (as opposed to a minibus) then the guide and driver will drive you by vehicle to visit this temple in Doi Mae Salong. If you are being transported by minibus then unfortunately we will not be able to drive you to this temple as we feel the minibus is to bulky to manouver this steep road safely. However for the minibus customers you will have the option to walk up to this temple via the 700+ stepped staircase (please note that a very good level of fitness will be required!) If the road is wet we will not be able to drive to this temple by car or minibus as we feel the road is too slippery in places to do this safely.
A Tourist Authority of Thailand licensed and English speaking guide will be provided. Other languages are available on request. we provide separate drivers and you guide will not be driving the vehicle.
